Amends the Illinois Insurance Code to require the Director of Insurance to solicit information and data from health insurance carriers regarding insurance coverage for pediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorders. Provides the types of data that shall be collected by the Director. Provides that the Director shall analyze the information and submit a report on or before November 15, 2020 to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the President of the Senate, the Governor, the chairpersons of the House and Senate committees having jurisdiction over health and human services issues, and the legislative representatives serving on the advisory council on pediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorder associated with streptococcal infections and pediatric acute neuropsychiatric syndrome. Effective immediately.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended by adding |
5 | | Section 356z.25a as follows: |
6 | | (215 ILCS 5/356z.25a new) |
7 | | Sec. 356z.25a. Coverage for pediatric autoimmune |
8 | | neuropsychiatric disorders; report required. The Director |
9 | | shall solicit information and data from health insurance |
10 | | carriers regarding insurance coverage for pediatric autoimmune |
11 | | neuropsychiatric disorders. The data collected shall include |
12 | | the number of pediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorder |
13 | | cases diagnosed, treatment recommended by health care |
14 | | providers, denials of treatment approved by insurance |
15 | | carriers, number of appeals by insureds, and number of appeals |
16 | | granted by insurance carriers. The Director shall analyze the |
17 | | information and submit a report on or before November 15, 2020 |
18 | | to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the President |
19 | | of the Senate, the Governor, the chairpersons of the House and |
20 | | Senate committees having jurisdiction over health and human |
21 | | services issues, and the legislative representatives serving |
