SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 

 
20 ILCS 2310/2310-214 new

     Amends the Department of Public Health Powers and Duties Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Requires the Department of Public Health to conduct a study to evaluate the impact on the mental health of Illinois' immigrant community from the threat of imminent action by the federal government to remove immigrant residents from Illinois. Provides that the study shall be conducted in consultation with private and public entities that provide health care services to members of Illinois' immigrant community.  Requires the Department to report its findings to the General Assembly on or before January 1, 2022. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning State government.
  
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
 
3represented in the General Assembly:
  
 
 
4    Section 5. The Department of Public Health Powers and 
5Duties Law of the
Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is 
6amended  by adding Section 2310-214 as follows:
 
7    (20 ILCS 2310/2310-214 new)
8    Sec. 2310-214. Immigrant health study. Subject to 
9appropriations, the Department shall conduct a study to 
10evaluate the impact on the mental health of Illinois' immigrant 
11community from the threat of imminent action by the federal 
12government to remove immigrant residents from Illinois. The 
13Department shall conduct the study in consultation with private 
14and public entities that provide health care services to 
15members of Illinois' immigrant community.  The Department shall 
16report its findings to the General Assembly on or before 
17January 1, 2022.
 
 
18    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 
19becoming law.
