Amends the Lead Poisoning Prevention Act. Beginning January 1, 2022, prohibits the sale or manufacture for sale in this State of garden hoses that are not lead free. Effective immediately.

1 | | AN ACT concerning health.
|
2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Lead Poisoning Prevention Act is amended by |
5 | | adding Section 6.4 as follows: |
6 | | (410 ILCS 45/6.4 new) |
7 | | Sec. 6.4. Regulation of lead in garden hoses. |
8 | | (a) For purposes of this Section: |
9 | | "Lead free" means: |
10 | | (1) not containing more than 0.2 percent lead when used |
11 | | with respect to solder and flux; and |
12 | | (2) not more than a weighted average of 0.25 percent |
13 | | lead when used with respect to the wetted surfaces of |
14 | | garden hoses. |
15 | | (b) Beginning January 1, 2022, no person shall sell or |
16 | | manufacture for sale in this State a garden hose that is not |
17 | | lead free.

18 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
19 | | becoming law.
