Amends the Intergovernmental Cooperation Act. Provides that any 2 or more school districts may, by intergovernmental agreement, establish a mutually beneficial technology exchange program to provide for the sharing of education resources, including computers, tablets, electronic readers, and other technology. Provides that a school district that participates in a technology exchange program shall biennially report to the State Board of Education on the results of the technology exchange program, including the benefits to students and challenges related to the school district's participation in the technology exchange program.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Intergovernmental Cooperation Act is |
5 | | amended by adding Section 3.10 as follows: |
6 | | (5 ILCS 220/3.10 new) |
7 | | Sec. 3.10. School district technology exchange. Any 2 or |
8 | | more school districts as governed under the School Code may, by |
9 | | intergovernmental agreement, establish a mutually beneficial |
10 | | technology exchange program to provide for the sharing of |
11 | | education resources, including computers, tablets, electronic |
12 | | readers, and other technology. A school district that |
13 | | participates in a technology exchange program under this |
14 | | Section shall biennially report to the State Board of |
15 | | Education, in such form and detail as the State Board of |
16 | | Education may specify, on the results of the technology |
17 | | exchange program, including the benefits to students and |
18 | | challenges related to the school district's participation in |
19 | | the technology exchange program.
