Amends the Election Code. Prohibits a member of the State Board of Elections from contributing, either financially or in services or goods or any other way, to a political committee or from serving as an officer of a political committee. Requires a member of the State Board of Elections serving as an officer of a political committee to resign from the political committee within 30 days after confirmation by the Senate or within 30 days of the effective date of the amendatory Act if currently serving. Effective immediately.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Election Code is amended by changing Section |
5 | | 1A-14 as follows:
|
6 | | (10 ILCS 5/1A-14) (from Ch. 46, par. 1A-14)

7 | | Sec. 1A-14.
No member of the State Board of Elections shall |
8 | | contribute, either financially or in services or goods or any |
9 | | other way, to any political committee or serve as an officer of |
10 | | any political committee. No member of the State Board of |
11 | | Elections may become a candidate
for nomination for, or |
12 | | election to,
or accept appointment to or hold any other |
13 | | remunerative public office or public
employment or any office |
14 | | in a political party. A member of the State Board of Elections |
15 | | serving as an officer of a political committee shall resign as |
16 | | an officer of the political committee within 30 days after |
17 | | confirmation by the Senate. A member of the State Board of |
18 | | Elections serving as an officer of a political committee on the |
19 | | effective date of this amendatory Act of the 101st General |
20 | | Assembly shall resign as an officer of the political committee |
21 | | within 30 days after the effective date of this amendatory Act |
22 | | of the 101st General Assembly. Violation of any prohibition
