Amends the Criminal Code of 2012. Provides that a person commits operation of an unmanned aerial vehicle by a sex offender when he or she is: (1) required to register under the Sex Offender Registration Act; and (2) is subject to conditional release, parole, mandatory supervised release, or any other condition imposed by the court who knowingly or intentionally operates an unmanned aerial vehicle for the purpose of following, contacting, or capturing images of one or more individuals. Operation of an unmanned aerial vehicle by a sex offender is a Class 4 felony. A second or subsequent violation is a Class 3 felony. Defines "unmanned aerial vehicle".

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Criminal Code of 2012 is amended by adding |
5 | | Section 11-28 as follows: |
6 | | (720 ILCS 5/11-28 new) |
7 | | Sec. 11-28. Operation of an unmanned aerial vehicle by a |
8 | | sex offender. |
9 | | (a) In this Section, "unmanned aerial vehicle" means a |
10 | | vehicle or device that uses aerodynamic forces to achieve |
11 | | flight and is piloted remotely. |
12 | | (b) A person commits operation of an unmanned aerial |
13 | | vehicle by a sex offender when he or she is: (1) required to |
14 | | register under the Sex Offender Registration Act; and (2) is |
15 | | subject to conditional release, parole, mandatory supervised |
16 | | release, or any other condition imposed by the court who |
17 | | knowingly or intentionally operates an unmanned aerial vehicle |
18 | | for the purpose of following, contacting, or capturing images |
19 | | of one or more individuals. |
20 | | (c) Sentence. Operation of an unmanned aerial vehicle by a |
21 | | sex offender is a Class 4 felony. A second or subsequent |
