Amends the State Fire Marshal Act. Provides that the Office of the State Fire Marshal shall adopt new rules for the storage, handling, and use of ethylene oxide for sterilization and fumigation in accordance with Section 55 of the National Fire Protection Association Code.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The State Fire Marshal Act is amended by adding |
| 5 | | Section 5 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (20 ILCS 2905/5 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 5. Storage, handling, and use of ethylene oxide. The |
| 8 | | Office of the State Fire Marshal shall adopt new rules for the |
| 9 | | storage, handling, and use of ethylene oxide for sterilization |
| 10 | | and fumigation. These rules shall be in accordance with Section |
| 11 | | 55 of the National Fire Protection Association Code, as those |
| 12 | | provisions may change over time. The Office of the State Fire |
| 13 | | Marshal has exclusive jurisdiction to enforce these |
| 14 | | provisions.
