2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by changing |
5 | | Section 3-805 as follows:
|
6 | | (625 ILCS 5/3-805) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 3-805)

7 | | Sec. 3-805. Electric vehicles.
The owner of a motor |
8 | | vehicle of the first division or a motor vehicle of the second |
9 | | division weighing 8,000 pounds or less propelled by an
electric |
10 | | engine and not utilizing motor fuel, may register such vehicle |
11 | | for
a fee not to exceed $35 for a 2-year registration period.

12 | | The Secretary may, in his discretion, prescribe that electric |
13 | | vehicle
registration plates be issued for an indefinite term, |
14 | | such term to correspond
to the term of registration plates |
15 | | issued generally, as provided in Section
3-414.1. The Secretary |
16 | | shall provide electric vehicle registration plates for persons |
17 | | with disabilities to applicants who meet the criteria of |
18 | | Section 3-609 or 3-616. In no event may the registration fee |
19 | | for electric vehicles exceed
$18 per registration year.
