1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing Section
53A-16 as follows:
 
6    (105 ILCS 5/3A-16)
7    Sec. 3A-16. Regional office of education advisory board.
8    (a) Beginning October 1, 2009, a regional office of
9education advisory board shall be established within each
10region serving Class I counties or within each group of regions
11participating in an intergovernmental agreement for the the
12provision of professional development to advise the regional
13superintendent of schools of the region or regions involved
14concerning the planning and delivery of professional
15development programs and services.
16    (b) The advisory board shall consist of at least 9 members.
17All members of the advisory board shall be certified pursuant
18to Article 21 of this Code and be currently employed in
19positions requiring certification by a school district,
20special education cooperative, joint agreement, or regional
21office of education program. A majority of members shall be
22nominated by statewide organizations representing teachers
23within the region or regions and selected by the regional

1superintendent of the region or regions involved.
2Administrators shall be nominated by statewide organizations
3representing administrators within the region or regions and
4selected by the regional superintendent of the region or
5regions involved.
6    (c) The regional office of education advisory board shall
7meet at least annually for the performance of its advisory
8duties.
