Creates the Local Appointed Official Removal Act. Provides that the person or entity that appointed a member of the board of a unit of local government may remove that member the person or entity appointed for misconduct, official misconduct, or neglect of office. Provides that the provisions are in addition to any other method of removal provided by law. Defines terms. Effective immediately.

1 | | AN ACT concerning local government.
|
2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the Local |
5 | | Appointed Official Removal Act. |
6 | | Section 5. Definitions. As used in this Act:
|
7 | | "Board" means the governing and administrative body of a |
8 | | unit of local government.
|
9 | | "Member" means a member, trustee, commissioner, or |
10 | | whatever title representatives of a board of a unit of local |
11 | | government are called.
|
12 | | Section 10. Removal of appointed board members.
|
13 | | (a) Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the person |
14 | | or entity that appointed a member of the board of a unit of |
15 | | local government may remove that member for misconduct, |
16 | | official misconduct, or neglect of office.
|
17 | | (b) Removal under this Section is in addition to any other |
18 | | method of removal provided by law.
|
19 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
20 | | becoming law.
