Creates the Veterans Cyber Academy Pilot Program Act. Provides that the Department of Veterans' Affairs shall establish and implement a pilot program to provide veterans residing in the State with access to cyber security training, certification, apprenticeships, and additional resources to enter the cyber security field of work. Provides that the pilot program shall run from January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2023. Provides specified requirements to the Department in implementing the pilot program. Effective immediately.

1 | | AN ACT concerning veterans.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the |
5 | | Veterans Cyber Academy Pilot Program Act. |
6 | | Section 5. Veterans Cyber Academy Pilot Program. |
7 | | (a) As used in this Act: |
8 | | "Department" means the Department of Veterans' Affairs. |
9 | | (b) The Department shall establish and implement a pilot |
10 | | program to provide veterans residing in the State with access |
11 | | to cyber security training, certification, apprenticeships, |
12 | | and additional resources to enter the cyber security field of |
13 | | work. The pilot program shall run from January 1, 2021 to |
14 | | December 31, 2023. The Department shall perform all of the |
15 | | following: |
16 | | (1) Establish relevant courses of study for |
17 | | participants that culminate in an industry-recognized |
18 | | certification. |
19 | | (2) Establish a registry of available cybersecurity |
20 | | jobs in and around the State. |
21 | | (3) Develop partnerships with government agencies and |
22 | | private sector organizations that provide participants |
23 | | with education, training, and apprenticeships. |
