Amends the School Code. Requires the State Board of Education to develop a work-based learning database to help facilitate relationships between school districts and businesses and expand work-based learning in this State; defines "work-based learning". Effective immediately.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section |
| 5 | | 2-3.176 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (105 ILCS 5/2-3.176 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 2-3.176. Work-based learning database. |
| 8 | | (a) In this Section, "work-based learning" means an |
| 9 | | educational strategy that provides students with real-life |
| 10 | | work experiences in which they can apply academic and technical |
| 11 | | skills and develop their employability. |
| 12 | | (b) The State Board must develop a work-based learning |
| 13 | | database to help facilitate relationships between school |
| 14 | | districts and businesses and expand work-based learning in this |
| 15 | | State.

| 16 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 17 | | becoming law.
