Amends the Counties Code. Provides that a member of the Lake County Board shall not receive a salary or other compensation from Lake County if they are receiving benefits from the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund. Provides that if a member of the Lake County Board is receiving benefits from the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund on the effective date of the amendatory Act, the member's salary and compensation shall be reduced to zero at the beginning of the member's next term. Effective immediately.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Counties Code is amended by adding Section |
5 | | 4-10005 as follows: |
6 | | (55 ILCS 5/4-10005 new) |
7 | | Sec. 4-10005. Lake County Board salaries. Notwithstanding |
8 | | Section 4-10001, a member of the Lake County Board shall not |
9 | | receive any salary or other compensation from Lake County if |
10 | | they are receiving benefits from the Illinois Municipal |
11 | | Retirement Fund under Article 7 of the Illinois Pension Code. |
12 | | If a member of the Lake County Board is receiving benefits from |
13 | | the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund on the effective date of |
14 | | this amendatory Act of the 101st General Assembly, the member's |
15 | | salary and compensation shall be reduced to zero at the |
16 | | beginning of the member's next term if the member is still |
17 | | receiving benefits from the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund |
18 | | at the beginning of the member's next term.

19 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
20 | | becoming law.
