Amends the Assumed Business Name Act. Provides that a person conducting or transacting business under an assumed name at his or her residence is not required to include his or her home address while complying with the publication requirements of the Act if that person's safety would be put at risk by publishing his or her home address. Provides that, instead, the person may provide a post office box address.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Assumed Business Name Act is amended by |
5 | | adding Section 1a as follows: |
6 | | (805 ILCS 405/1a new) |
7 | | Sec. 1a. Home-based businesses. A person conducting or |
8 | | transacting business under an assumed name at his or her |
9 | | personal residence shall not be required to include his or her |
10 | | personal residence address to comply with the publication |
11 | | requirements of this Act if that person's safety would be put |
12 | | at risk by publishing his or her home address; instead, the |
13 | | person may provide a post office box address.
