1 | | AN ACT concerning local government.
|
2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Park District Code is amended by changing |
5 | | Section 2-25 as follows:
|
6 | | (70 ILCS 1205/2-25) (from Ch. 105, par. 2-25)
|
7 | | Sec. 2-25. Vacancies. Whenever any member of the governing |
8 | | board of any park
district (i) dies, (ii) resigns, (iii) |
9 | | becomes under legal disability, (iv)
ceases to be a legal voter |
10 | | in the district, (v) is convicted in any court located in the |
11 | | United States of any
infamous crime, bribery, perjury, or other |
12 | | felony (vi) refuses or neglects to take his or her oath of |
13 | | office,
(vii) neglects to perform the duties of his or her |
14 | | office or attend
meetings of the board for the length of time |
15 | | as the board fixes by
ordinance, or (viii) for any other reason |
16 | | specified by law, that office may
be declared vacant. Vacancies |
17 | | shall be filled by appointment by a majority
of the remaining |
18 | | members of the board. Any person so appointed shall hold
his or |
19 | | her office until the next regular election for this office, at |
20 | | which
a member shall be elected to fill the vacancy for the |
21 | | unexpired term,
subject to the following conditions:

22 | | (1) If the vacancy occurs with less than 28 months |
23 | | remaining in the
term, the person appointed to fill the |
