SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
625 ILCS 5/3-699.16 new

    Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that the Secretary of State may issue special registration plates designated as Prostate Cancer license plates. Provides that the fee for a Prostate Cancer license plate, for the original issuance and renewal issuance of the plate, shall be $25.

1    AN ACT concerning transportation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding
5Section 3-699.16 as follows:
 
6    (625 ILCS 5/3-699.16 new)
7    Sec. 3-699.16. Prostate Cancer license plates.
8    (a) The Secretary, upon receipt of an application made in
9the form prescribed by the Secretary, may issue special
10registration plates designated as Prostate Cancer license
11plates. The special plates issued under this Section shall be
12affixed only to passenger vehicles of the first division and
13motor vehicles of the second division weighing not more than
148,000 pounds. Plates issued under this Section shall expire
15according to the multi-year procedure established by Section
163-414.1 of this Code.
17    (b) The design and color of the plates is wholly within the
18discretion of the Secretary. The Secretary may allow the plates
19to be issued as vanity plates or personalized under Section
203-405.1 of the Code. The Secretary shall prescribe stickers or
21decals as provided under Section 3-412 of this Code.
22    (c) An applicant for the special plate shall be charged a
23$25 fee for original issuance in addition to the appropriate

1registration fee. Of this fee, $10 shall be deposited into the
2Prostate Cancer Awareness Fund and $15 shall be deposited into
3the Secretary of State Special License Plate Fund, to be used
4by the Secretary to help defray the administrative processing
5costs.
6    For each registration renewal period, a $25 fee, in
7addition to the appropriate registration fee, shall be charged.
8Of this fee, $23 shall be deposited into the Prostate Cancer
9Awareness Fund and $2 shall be deposited into the Secretary of
10State Special License Plate Fund.
