Amends the Township Code. Provides that a township board may not enter into or authorize an employment, equipment, or service contract, with the exception of a contract negotiated with a labor union, that would extend 90 days past the next township election. Provides that an employment, equipment, or service contracts entered into or authorized in violation of the provisions are voidable.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Township Code is amended by adding Section |
5 | | 85-70 as follows: |
6 | | (60 ILCS 1/85-70 new) |
7 | | Sec. 85-70. Contract length. |
8 | | (a) A township board may not enter into or authorize an |
9 | | employment, equipment, or service contract, with the exception |
10 | | of a contract negotiated with a labor union, that would extend |
11 | | 90 days past the next township election. |
12 | | (b) An employment, equipment, or service contract entered |
13 | | into or authorized in violation of this Section is voidable.
