Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that the Secretary of State may issue United Nations Protection Force license plates to residents who served in the United Nations Protection Force in Yugoslavia. Provides that the original issuance fee shall be $15 and the renewal fee shall be $2.

1 | | AN ACT concerning transportation.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding |
5 | | Section 3-699.17 as follows: |
6 | | (625 ILCS 5/3-699.17 new) |
7 | | Sec. 3-699.17. United Nations Protection Force license |
8 | | plates. |
9 | | (a) In addition to any other special license plate, the |
10 | | Secretary, upon receipt of all applicable fees and applications |
11 | | made in the form prescribed by the Secretary of State, may |
12 | | issue United Nations Protection Force license plates to |
13 | | residents of this State who served in the United Nations |
14 | | Protection Force in Yugoslavia. The special United Nations |
15 | | Protection Force plate issued under this Section shall be |
16 | | affixed only to passenger vehicles of the first division and |
17 | | motor vehicles of the second division weighing not more than |
18 | | 8,000 pounds. Plates issued under this Section shall expire |
19 | | according to the staggered multi-year procedure established by |
20 | | Section 3-414.1 of this Code. |
21 | | (b) The design, color, and format of the plates shall be |
22 | | wholly within the discretion of the Secretary of State. The |
23 | | Secretary may, in his or her discretion, allow the plates to be |
