1 | | AN ACT concerning local government.
|
2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Counties Code is amended by changing Section |
5 | | 3-5001 as follows:
|
6 | | (55 ILCS 5/3-5001) (from Ch. 34, par. 3-5001)
|
7 | | Sec. 3-5001. County clerk as recorder; election of |
8 | | recorder. The The county clerk in counties having a population |
9 | | of less than
60,000 inhabitants shall be the recorder in his |
10 | | county.
|
11 | | In counties having a population of 60,000 or more |
12 | | inhabitants, there
shall be elected a recorder, as provided by |
13 | | law, who shall hold
his office until his successor is |
14 | | qualified.
|
15 | | If the population of any county in which a recorder has |
16 | | been elected
decreases to less than 60,000, the voters of that |
17 | | county shall continue to
elect a recorder if the county board |
18 | | adopts a resolution to continue the
office of an elected |
19 | | recorder.
