AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 190

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 190 by replacing
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4    "Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Sections
510-20.69 and 34-18.61 as follows:
 
6    (105 ILCS 5/10-20.69 new)
7    Sec. 10-20.69. Academic support services; at-risk student.
8    (a) In this Section, "at-risk student" means a student who
9is at risk of dropping out of school because of his or her
10individual academic needs and who requires temporary or ongoing
11academic support services to achieve success in school.
12    (b) Beginning with the 2020-2021 school year, each school
13district must provide a parent or guardian of an at-risk
14student information about appropriate and available
15community-based or in-school academic support services. The
16academic support services may include, but are not limited to,

1any of the following:
2        (1) Individual or small-group tutoring.
3        (2) A summer school program.
4        (3) A mentoring program.
5        (4) Meeting with an academic advisor.
6    A school district shall not be responsible for any costs or
7transportation associated with a student's participation in
8community-based academic support services under this
9subsection.

11    Sec. 34-18.61. Academic support services; at-risk student.
12    (a) In this Section, "at-risk student" means a student who
13is at risk of dropping out of school because of his or her
14individual academic needs and who requires temporary or ongoing
15academic support services to achieve success in school.
16    (b) Beginning with the 2020-2021 school year, the school
17district must provide a parent or guardian of an at-risk
