2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Craig Raymond Stettner of Des Plaines, |
4 | | who passed away on December 25, 2018; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Craig Stettner was born to Ray and Judy Stettner |
6 | | on October 14, 1965; he graduated from Maine West and then |
7 | | attended Purdue University, Ball State, and Iowa State; he |
8 | | earned degrees in aquatic science, biology, ecology, and |
9 | | education; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Craig Stettner joined the faculty at Harper |
11 | | College in Palatine in 2002; he ran a popular study abroad |
12 | | program in Costa Rica and inspired countless students to reach |
13 | | their full potential; he was dedicated to sharing his passion |
14 | | for conservation and the environment; for many years, he worked |
15 | | with Harper students and volunteers from the community to help |
16 | | restore the ecosystem in the Spring Creek Forest Preserve in |
17 | | Barrington; and

18 | | WHEREAS, Craig Stettner was an avid bird watcher and board |
19 | | member of the Chicago Audubon Society, where he led many bird |
20 | | walks and shared the joys of birding with students and the |
21 | | public; he cultivated an expertise in butterflies, |
22 | | dragonflies, and damselflies and became an official dragonfly |
