|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of James Frederick "Jim" Reinhardt of Alton, |
4 | | who passed away on September 25, 2018; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Jim Reinhardt was born in Alton to Walter and |
6 | | Wilhelmina (Grabbe) Reinhardt on February 28, 1926; at the age |
7 | | of 16, he joined the Alton Municipal Band as the youngest |
8 | | clarinetist to date; he went on to become the band manager and |
9 | | served in that role for 22 years; he met his wife, Martha Reid, |
10 | | who was a soloist, in the band; they married in September 1952; |
11 | | he served in the United States Marines during World War II in |
12 | | the regiment assigned to cover the occupation of Japan; he |
13 | | studied electrical engineering at the University of Illinois; |
14 | | and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Jim Reinhardt worked for Grabbe Construction |
16 | | Company, Laclede Steel, and eventually retired from The Boeing |
17 | | Company; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, Jim Reinhardt was a lifelong member of the |
19 | | Evangelical United Church of Christ, where he was fondly known |
20 | | as "Coach"; he taught Sunday school, was a youth advisor, and |
21 | | the coach of athletics; and
|

1 | | WHEREAS, Jim Reinhardt had a mechanical mind and completed |
2 | | extensive model train and airplane projects and built |
3 | | treehouses and go-karts for his children; he was an avid fan of |
4 | | the U of I sports programs; he was thankful for the life he had |
5 | | with his family and was known for his storytelling; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Jim Reinhardt is survived by his wife, Martha; his |
7 | | three children, Reid Stroud, Walter (Joan) Reinhardt, and |
8 | | Clinton (Laurie) Reinhardt; his brother-in-law, Robert (G.G.) |
9 | | Reid; his grandchildren, Adam (Ana) Stroud, Erin Stroud, Zach |
10 | | Reinhardt, Ethan (Ingrid) Reinhardt, Rebecca Reinhardt, |
11 | | Miranda Reinhardt, and Jacob Reinhardt; and his |
12 | | great-grandchildren, Charlee Stroud, Dylan Stroud, and Gabriel |
13 | | and Nicole Hentschel; therefore, be it
|
14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL |
15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
16 | | James Frederick "Jim" Reinhardt and extend our sincere |
17 | | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved |
18 | | him; and be it further

19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
20 | | presented to the family of Jim Reinhardt as an expression of |
21 | | our deepest sympathy.
