SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Richard "Dick" Koch Sr. of Harvard, who
4passed away on August 3, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Richard Koch was born in Harvard to Roy and Ella
6(Runkle) Koch on January 22, 1940; he graduated from Harvard
7High School in 1958 and was part of the Dan Horne Hittin'
8Hornets undefeated team of 1957; he married Judy Martin in
9Harvard on July 22, 1950; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Richard Koch began working at Bowman Dairy the day
11he graduated from high school; he retired from Dean Foods; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Richard Koch was an avid hunter and a member of
13the Alden Fox Hunt Club with his dad in the 50s and 60s; he
14enjoyed trap shooting at Darien Sporting Goods; he was a
15handyman and always helped his family and friends with
16projects; he played softball around the area with the Harvard
17Men's League and the Farm Bureau; he enjoyed visiting with
18friends, telling stories, and going to his grandchildren and
19great-grandchildren's events; being with his family was most
20important to him; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Richard Koch was preceded in death by his parents;

1his nephew, Jeff Koch; his niece, Val Koch Pitzen; his
2father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ernie and Mildred Martin; his
3brother-in-law, Gary Martin; and his sisters-in-law, Dolores
4Martin and Janice Ebel; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Richard Koch is survived by his children, Kathy
6(Roger), Kim (Per), Kelley (Dan), Karen (Chuck), and Richie
7(Laurie); his grandchildren Adam (Llisha), Emily (Miguel),
8Raquel, Luke (Jess), Jenna (Neal), Drake, Elle, Fallon, Alex,
9Maddie, Dakota, and Cheyenne (Hunter); his
10great-grandchildren, Jackson, Levin, Ryelan, Faye, Kylie, and
11two more on the way; his brother Ed (Carol); his nephew, Scott;
12his brothers-in-law, David Martin and Mike (Penny) Martin; and
13his many nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family members;
14therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
17Richard "Dick" Koch and extend our sincere condolences to his
18family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
19further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Richard Koch as an expression of our
22deepest sympathy.
