2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Robert "Bob" James Wescott Tirk of |
4 | | Woodstock, who passed away on July 3, 2018; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Bob Tirk was born in Boston, Massachusetts to |
6 | | James and Marguerite (Greb) Wescott on May 29, 1943; after his |
7 | | father's death, while serving in the Coast Guard during World |
8 | | War II, his mother married Richard "Dick" E. Tirk, and at age |
9 | | four, Bob was adopted by Dick; he grew up in New York and |
10 | | graduated from Briarcliff High School; he was one of many |
11 | | family members to attend Lawrence University, where he majored |
12 | | in music education; he married fellow music student Ann Uber in |
13 | | Hartford, Wisconsin on June 19, 1965; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Bob Tirk taught in McHenry County, where he served |
15 | | as a music educator in Huntley, Woodstock, and Marengo for 29 |
16 | | years; he and his wife lived on farms in Woodstock and raised |
17 | | pigs, chickens, and got into the hay baling business; in |
18 | | Marengo, he took his band students on many adventures, |
19 | | including trips to California, Florida, and Churchill, |
20 | | Manitoba; after retirement, he continued to teach part time and |
21 | | worked for the Marengo Park District, where he created the |
22 | | "Summer with the Arts" program and helped to build the town |
23 | | pool; and
