SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of William B. "Bill" Johnson of Joliet, who
4passed away on May 1, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bill Johnson was born in St. Charles to Lois and
6Carl Johnson on February 4, 1945; he graduated from Kaneland
7High School in 1963; he earned his bachelor of science degree
8at the University of Illinois in 1967 and his master of science
9degree in 1968; he was also a Bronze Tablet recipient at the
10University of Illinois; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Bill Johnson recently celebrated his 50th year as
12an Agriculture Instructor at Joliet Junior College; he began
13his career at Joliet Junior College on September 1, 1968 and
14was hired by Elmer Rowley, the college's first president; he
15was a fierce advocate for agricultural education, and his
16loyalty and dedication to the agriculture program at Joliet
17Junior College, and the agriculture community, was unmatched;
18he was incredibly forward thinking about how to draw young
19people into Agriculture education; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Bill Johnson was a leader, not only in the
21classroom, but also in the community; he served on the Joliet
22Junior College Foundation Board since 2010; he touched many

1lives throughout his career, often spanning three generations
2of a single family; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Bill Johnson was preceded in death by his father;
4and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bill Johnson is survived by his mother; his
6brother, David C. (Linda) Johnson; his niece, Kimberly A.
7(Chad) Walter; his nephew, Dr. Michael D. (Barbara) Johnson;
8his great-nieces, Meredith and Caroline Johnson; and his
9great-nephew, Leo Johnson; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12William B. "Bill" Johnson and extend our sincere condolences to
13his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Bill Johnson as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
