2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Kenneth L. "Ken" Carlson Sr., who passed |
4 | | away on March 24, 2018; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Ken Carlson was born to Lowell and Viola Carlson |
6 | | on July 17, 1943; he graduated from Moline High School in 1961, |
7 | | where he was an avid bowler and won the Dispatch Bowling |
8 | | Tournament his senior year; he served in the United States Army |
9 | | for two years, mostly notably in Bad Kissingen, Germany; he |
10 | | married Diane Vroman in Moline on October 17, 1964; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Ken Carlson worked as a welder at John Deere |
12 | | Harvester in East Moline; he was in charge of the John Deere |
13 | | Harvester Welding Lab and accomplished his goals of becoming a |
14 | | Certified Welding Inspector and a Certified Welding Educator; |
15 | | he retired in 2003; he taught welding at Black Hawk College, |
16 | | Scott Community College, and several other community colleges; |
17 | | and |
18 | | WHEREAS, Ken Carlson volunteered with Habitat for Humanity |
19 | | and Kids Against Hunger; and |
20 | | WHEREAS, Ken Carlson enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing and |
21 | | spending time with his family and his companion, Lady; he |
