2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Shelley A. Tucker of Woodstock, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on January 6, 2018; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Shelley Tucker was born in Duluth, Minnesota to | ||||||
6 | Wallace and June (Swanson) Halvorson on June 19, 1949; she | ||||||
7 | moved with her family to Freeport in 1956 and graduated from | ||||||
8 | Freeport High School in 1967 and St. Olaf College in | ||||||
9 | Northfield, Minnesota in 1971; she married Irwin P. "Terry" | ||||||
10 | Tucker Jr. on April 22, 1972 and they settled in Woodstock; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Shelley Tucker was manager of the Woodstock | ||||||
12 | Country Club for 25 years; she then worked at McGladrey & | ||||||
13 | Pullen in Crystal Lake; and | ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Shelley Tucker was a member of Grace Lutheran | ||||||
15 | Church in Woodstock; she was an active member of the Faith | ||||||
16 | Circle for over 10 years, where she participated in Bible | ||||||
17 | studies, fellowship and service projects, and was a gracious | ||||||
18 | hostess, hosting her Circle friends for an annual June dinner | ||||||
19 | out at the Woodstock Country Club for several years; she also | ||||||
20 | volunteered with Clothing Closet for McHenry County; and | ||||||
21 | WHEREAS, Shelley Tucker was a devoted and vital member of |

1 | PEO, a philanthropic women's organization; she joined Chapter | ||||||
2 | MC in 2002, served as president and held a number of other | ||||||
3 | offices; she organized and worked tirelessly year after year on | ||||||
4 | the chapter's annual Christmas auction in support of PEO | ||||||
5 | education grants and scholarships; receipts from the auction | ||||||
6 | grew annually; an even greater asset may have been her | ||||||
7 | semimonthly emailed Newsy Notes, which kept members connected; | ||||||
8 | and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Shelley Tucker was an accomplished synchronized | ||||||
10 | swimmer; she assisted with plays and was managing editor of the | ||||||
11 | yearbook while in school; she kept and nurtured a special group | ||||||
12 | of high school friends for more than 60 years, the Pretzels, | ||||||
13 | who became her second family; she loved the group's yearly | ||||||
14 | gatherings at Lake Geneva, Wisconsin; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Shelley Tucker was preceded in death by her | ||||||
16 | mother; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Shelley Tucker is survived by her husband, Terry; | ||||||
18 | her father, Wallace Halvorson; her brother, Dr. Scott (Susan) | ||||||
19 | Halvorson; her sister-in-law, Libby (Earnest) Jones; her | ||||||
20 | nieces and nephews, Jonathan Halvorson, Jennifer Ann (John | ||||||
21 | Forsdike) Halvorson, Henry Jones, and Elizabeth (Weathers) | ||||||
22 | Hardwick; and her great-niece, Alice Elsie Forsdike; | ||||||
23 | therefore, be it

1 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
2 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
3 | Shelley A. Tucker, and extend our sincere condolences to her | ||||||
4 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | ||||||
5 | further

6 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
7 | presented to the family of Shelley Tucker as an expression of | ||||||
8 | our deepest sympathy.
