2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Dr. N.V.R. Raju of Crystal Lake, who |
4 | | passed away on October 22, 2017; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Raju was born in India to N.V.A.N. Raju and |
6 | | Suryakanthamma (Penumetsa) Raju on May 30, 1949; the oldest of |
7 | | four children, he excelled both academically at Andhra Medical |
8 | | College in his hometown of Vizag, as well as athletically on |
9 | | the cricket field, where he played for both his university and |
10 | | the Ranji Trophy; and

11 | | WHEREAS, After graduating from medical school in India, Dr. |
12 | | Raju came to the United States, where he completed his |
13 | | residency in Internal Medicine at the Illinois Masonic Medical |
14 | | Center in Chicago, and his fellowship in Cardiology at the |
15 | | Cleveland Clinic; he practiced as an interventional |
16 | | cardiologist at Centegra Hospital-McHenry (formerly Northern |
17 | | Illinois Medical Center) and Centegra Hospital-Woodstock |
18 | | (formerly Memorial Hospital, Woodstock) for over 30 years; and

19 | | WHEREAS, Throughout his career, patients were his passion, |
20 | | and work was his enjoyment; he touched many hearts with his |
21 | | compassion and treated many cardiac aliments with his clinical |
22 | | skills; he was active, not only in the local community, but |
