2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Ida Mary Warner of Oak Park, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on August 2, 2017, at the age of 80; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Ida Warner was born in Evansville, Indiana to | ||||||
6 | Melvin and Ida (Hoffman) McCutchan on January 6, 1937 and grew | ||||||
7 | up in McCutchanville, an adjacent farming community named for | ||||||
8 | her ancestor, Samuel McCutchan; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Ida Warner showed promise as a pianist from an | ||||||
10 | early age, demonstrating her music skills throughout her | ||||||
11 | childhood and graduating to the Evansville Philharmonic | ||||||
12 | Orchestra, where she made her solo debut in 1953 performing | ||||||
13 | Mendelssohn's Piano Concerto in G minor; she attended the | ||||||
14 | University of Evansville, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts | ||||||
15 | in Music Performance and subsequently earned a Master of Arts | ||||||
16 | in Education from Western Michigan University, distinguishing | ||||||
17 | both of her passions for music and education; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Ida Warner began teaching music classes in the | ||||||
19 | public schools of Wayland, Michigan, where she met the love of | ||||||
20 | her life and future husband, Robert Jack Warner, a fellow | ||||||
21 | teacher and athletic coach; they married at the Wayland | ||||||
22 | Methodist Church on June 9, 1959 and moved to Otsego, Michigan |

1 | to continue their careers in education and raise their two | ||||||
2 | daughters; they both became actively involved in the Otsego | ||||||
3 | Methodist Church; and | ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Ida Warner continued her lifelong commitment to | ||||||
5 | the advancement of young people by teaching kindergarten, | ||||||
6 | first, and second grade in the nearby public schools of | ||||||
7 | Allegan, Michigan; she continued her love of teaching piano, | ||||||
8 | and her kind, gentle demeanor was appreciated by all who knew | ||||||
9 | her and made her a beloved fixture in the community; and | ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Ida Warner was a family woman whose supportive | ||||||
11 | nature fueled her nurturing of her children and grandchildren, | ||||||
12 | upon whom she doted endlessly, attending concerts, plays, and | ||||||
13 | any family event imaginable; and | ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, After the death of her husband, Ida Warner moved | ||||||
15 | to Oak Park in order to live closer to her family; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Ida Warner was preceded in death by her husband, | ||||||
17 | Robert, and her parents; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Ida Warner is survived by her siblings, Robert | ||||||
19 | (Jeannie) McCutchan, Richard McCutchan (Natalie Jung), and | ||||||
20 | Phyllis (Norman) Hill; her daughters, Lisa (Gary) Falkenberg | ||||||
21 | and Susan Warner (David Griffin); her grandchildren, Kate |

1 | Falkenberg, Henry Griffin, and Pearl Griffin; and the countless | ||||||
2 | students who owe a portion of their success to her tireless | ||||||
3 | dedication to the education of young minds; therefore, be it
| ||||||
4 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
5 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
6 | Ida Mary Warner, and extend our sincere condolences to her | ||||||
7 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | ||||||
8 | further

9 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
10 | presented to the family of Ida Warner as an expression of our | ||||||
11 | deepest sympathy.
