2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Dr. Edward P. "Ed" Glover of Brimfield, |
4 | | who passed away on October 23, 2017; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Glover was born in St. Louis to Thomas Edward |
6 | | and Emma Louise (Ameiss) Glover on February 2, 1931; he |
7 | | attended Shurtliff College and graduated from Logan |
8 | | Chiropractic College in February of 1953; he received his |
9 | | post-graduate education in roentgenology, acupuncture, and |
10 | | orthopedics; he married Rosalie Virginia Brown in St. Louis on |
11 | | August 26, 1950; he married Jane Sauerwein in Brimfield on |
12 | | November 9, 2014; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Glover was licensed in Florida in 1953, where |
14 | | he practiced for over two years; in 1956, he continued his |
15 | | practice in Peoria, until his retirement in 2006; and |
16 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Glover was a charter member of the American |
17 | | Chiropractic Association and a member of the Illinois |
18 | | Chiropractic Society Board of Directors since 1975, where he |
19 | | served as secretary and vice president; he also served as |
20 | | president of the Illinois Chiropractic Society in 1989 and was |
21 | | a member of the Council of Roentgenology of A.C.A.; and |

1 | | WHEREAS, In 1975, Dr. Glover was appointed by Governor Dan |
2 | | Walker to the Illinois State Health Coordinating Council |
3 | | (SHCC), the first, and at that time, the only chiropractor to |
4 | | serve that agency; he was re-appointed by Governor James |
5 | | Thompson from 1978 to 1981; and |
6 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Glover was awarded an honorary Doctor of |
7 | | Humanities from Logan Chiropractic College in 1972; he attended |
8 | | the First International Symposium on Spinal Manipulation in |
9 | | 1979; in 1982, he was named Logan College Alumnus of the year; |
10 | | he was elected to the board of trustees of Logan College in |
11 | | 1984 and re-elected in 1987, 1990, and 1994; he received the |
12 | | Chiropractic Physician of the Year in 1993 from the Illinois |
13 | | Chiropractic Society; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Glover was active in his community; he was a |
15 | | member of the Suburban Kiwanis Club since 1956, serving as |
16 | | president in 1969; he was lieutenant governor of Div. 20 of the |
17 | | Illinois-Eastern Iowa District of Kiwanis from 1970 to 1971 and |
18 | | continued with the Downtown Kiwanis; and |
19 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Glover was a founding member of Redeemer |
20 | | Lutheran Church since 1956, where he served on numerous boards, |
21 | | sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, and was president of |
22 | | the congregation; he and his wife later attended St. Paul |
23 | | Lutheran Church in Brimfield; and |

1 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Glover was a Peoria District 150 School Board |
2 | | member from 1973 through 1983, serving as vice president and |
3 | | president; he was chairman of the City of Peoria Heart Fund in |
4 | | 1982; he was a member of the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce |
5 | | since 1982; he was on the board of directors for Big Brothers |
6 | | Big Sisters and was appointed by the mayor in 1985 for a |
7 | | five-year term as a member of the Peoria Civic Center |
8 | | Commission; he was re-appointed to the Peoria Civic Center |
9 | | Authority in 1990; and |
10 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Glover was elected to the Peoria City Council |
11 | | as a councilman at large, serving from 1991 to 1999; he was |
12 | | appointed as mayor pro-tem in 1996; after choosing not to run |
13 | | for re-election, he was appointed to the Riverfront Commission |
14 | | in 1999; he was also appointed to the Railroad Commission and |
15 | | was involved with the Peoria Park District Rail-to-Trail |
16 | | Project; and

17 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Glover was preceded in death by his first |
18 | | wife, Rosalie; his parents; and his brother, Thomas Edward Jr.; |
19 | | and
|
20 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Glover is survived by his wife, Jane; his |
21 | | daughters, Linda (Steven) Ista, Victoria Glover, and Patricia |
22 | | (Josh) Pitcher; his stepdaughters, Kay (Jon) Harwood and Cindy |

1 | | (Steve Abel) Youngren; his sister, Dorothy Andereck; his |
2 | | grandchildren, Jacob, Amanda, Mikkel, Erek, Aaron, Jami, |
3 | | Emily, and Gillian; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces |
4 | | and nephews; therefore, be it
|
5 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL |
6 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
7 | | Dr. Edward P. "Ed" Glover, and extend our sincere condolences |
8 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be |
9 | | it further
|
10 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
11 | | presented to the family of Dr. Glover as an expression of our |
12 | | deepest sympathy.
