2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Donald James Ruemelin of Richmond, who |
4 | | passed away on June 12, 2017; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Donald Ruemelin was born in Chicago to Arthur C. |
6 | | and Eleanor (Klett) Ruemelin on July 10, 1927; he attended St. |
7 | | Julianna and St. George high schools; he graduated in 1945 and |
8 | | served his country in the United States Army from 1945 to 1947 |
9 | | in the 533rd Tank Division; he earned the Victory Medal and the |
10 | | Army of Occupation Medal Germany; and |
11 | | WHEREAS, Donald Ruemelin moved to Richmond in 1972 and |
12 | | established Hilltop Farm; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Donald Ruemelin was a lifetime member of VFW Post |
14 | | 4600, serving as commander for four years; he was also a member |
15 | | of the American Legion, The Men of Brass, and The Red Devils |
16 | | Drum and Bugle Corp; he was either marching in a parade or was |
17 | | driving the Fireball 8 plus 1; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, Donald Ruemelin enjoyed his horses and delivering |
19 | | black dirt and gravel; even on the hottest days of summer, he |
20 | | was driving his tractor and bailing hay; and
|
|

1 | | WHEREAS, Donald Ruemelin was preceded in death by his |
2 | | parents; an infant brother, Arthur; his sisters, Doris (Wetzel) |
3 | | and MaryJean (Hauck); and his sons, Robert S. and Micheal G. |
4 | | Ruemelin; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Donald Ruemelin is survived by his wife of almost |
6 | | 60 years, Patricia (Stoller); his daughters, Kathy Ruemelin and |
7 | | Susan (Greg) Houston; his daughter-in-law, Lynn Ruemelin; his |
8 | | grandchildren, Michael (Jodi) Ruemelin, Gina (Joe) Frano, |
9 | | James (Jenn) Houston, Jesse Houston, Cody Ruemelin, Ethan |
10 | | Houston, and Katie (Larry Kranz) Houston; and his |
11 | | great-grandchildren, Mikey Ruemelin, Joey and Ben Frano, |
12 | | Connor and Maddie Houston, and Levi, Ivan, and Zeke Kranz; |
13 | | therefore, be it

14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL |
15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
16 | | Donald James Ruemelin, and extend our sincere condolences to |
17 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
18 | | further

19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
20 | | presented to the family of Donald Ruemelin as an expression of |
21 | | our deepest sympathy.
