2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Robert Glen Lamphere of Bull Valley, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on May 19, 2017; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Robert Lamphere was born in Geneva to Marian and | ||||||
6 | Glen Lamphere on December 15, 1931; he attended Geneva High | ||||||
7 | School, where he was an all-state athlete in football, | ||||||
8 | basketball, and track; he attended the University of | ||||||
9 | Wisconsin-Madison on a football scholarship, where he was a | ||||||
10 | member of the 1953 Rose Bowl team and graduated with a degree | ||||||
11 | in English in 1954; after graduation, he served as an officer | ||||||
12 | in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Robert Lamphere started his career at Van | ||||||
14 | Vlissingen and Company as a commercial real estate broker, | ||||||
15 | rising to the title of chairman; for over 50 years, he was a | ||||||
16 | highly respected leader in the Chicago-area commercial real | ||||||
17 | estate brokerage, development, and management community; his | ||||||
18 | developments included the Oak Forest Industrial Park, the | ||||||
19 | Palatine Expressway Industrial Park, the Northgate Industrial | ||||||
20 | Center in Wheeling and in partnership with his son, Chuck | ||||||
21 | Lamphere, the development of Lincolnshire Corporate Center, | ||||||
22 | The Corporate Grove, and The Corporate Woods in Southern Lake | ||||||
23 | County; he served as president of the Chicago Chapter of the |

1 | Society of Industrial and Office Realtors and was a board | ||||||
2 | member of NAIOP, the commercial real estate development | ||||||
3 | association; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Robert Lamphere was a lifelong reader, dog lover, | ||||||
5 | landscape designer, avid golfer, and founding member of the | ||||||
6 | Bull Valley Golf Club; he was a proud alumnus and active | ||||||
7 | supporter of the University of Wisconsin Athletic Department | ||||||
8 | and the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine; | ||||||
9 | and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Robert Lamphere was preceded in death by his | ||||||
11 | brother, Donald (Jacquelyn) Lamphere; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Robert Lamphere is survived by his loving wife of | ||||||
13 | 28 years, Nanette Obriot Lamphere; his children, Chuck (Sarah) | ||||||
14 | Lamphere and Vicki (John) Burchard; his grandchildren, Gordon, | ||||||
15 | Duncan and Malcolm Lamphere, and Elise Burchard; his | ||||||
16 | half-sister, Laura Lee Leff; and many nieces and nephews; | ||||||
17 | therefore, be it

18 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
19 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
20 | Robert Glen Lamphere, and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
21 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
22 | further
