2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Robert C. Barksdale of Chicago, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on May 15, 2017; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Robert Barksdale was born in Sallis, Mississippi | ||||||
6 | to Charlie Davis and Virginia Roby Barksdale on January 4, | ||||||
7 | 1940; his family moved to Chicago in 1957; he married Emogene | ||||||
8 | Wilder at Greater Harvest Missionary Baptist Church in 1960, | ||||||
9 | but they separated in 1975; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Robert Barksdale worked for General Motors for | ||||||
11 | over five years, Evanston Hospital for 20 years, Virginia | ||||||
12 | Executive Building Maintenance for 20 years, and George's and | ||||||
13 | Ashland Foods for over 10 years; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Robert Barksdale enjoyed talking with people, | ||||||
15 | playing cards, dancing, taking Sunday car rides, listening to | ||||||
16 | music, repairing old cars, and cooking; and | ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Robert Barksdale met Sheila Gaines in 2002 and | ||||||
18 | from that point on they were inseparable; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Robert Barksdale was preceded in death by his | ||||||
20 | parents; his granddaughter, Dhiaa; his brother, David; and his |

1 | sisters, Malinda and Darlene; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Robert Barksdale is survived by his wife, Emogene; | ||||||
3 | his daughters, Gloria, Hakeema (Clifford), Sadiqua, and | ||||||
4 | Mumina; his sons, Rahim and B.J.; his grandchildren, Wesley, | ||||||
5 | Waraka, Arnirah, Temilade, Haziq, Hana, Jamia, Gerald, Cameel, | ||||||
6 | Jamar, Sabeeyah, Hajarah, Hannah, Aaasim, and Musawwir; his | ||||||
7 | great-granddaughters, Amoni and Amiya; his brothers, John, | ||||||
8 | Frank (Rosemary), Timothy, Gerry, James, and Ricky; his | ||||||
9 | sisters, Susie, Lucille, Derotha, Billie, Adele, Odele | ||||||
10 | (Louis), Charlene, Theresa (Rodney), Sylvia, and Dyann; and | ||||||
11 | numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends; | ||||||
12 | therefore, be it

13 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
14 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
15 | Robert C. Barksdale, and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
16 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
17 | further

18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
19 | presented to the family of Robert Barksdale as an expression of | ||||||
20 | our deepest sympathy.
