2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Ed Isaac "Butch" Day of Gibson City, who |
4 | | passed away on May 12, 2017; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Ed Day was born in Bloomington to Clyde Isaac and |
6 | | Rose Marie (Gusler) Day on August 27, 1952; at the age of nine, |
7 | | he started working for the family business, Day Drainage; he |
8 | | graduated from Gibson City High School in 1971, where he |
9 | | participated in football, wrestling, and the Future Farmers of |
10 | | America; he attended Parkland College, where he worked at the |
11 | | college radio station 88.7; he married Lorri Denny in Gibson |
12 | | City on August 16, 2007; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Ed Day owned Ed Day Earthmoving in the 1980s; he |
14 | | was an operator for Stark Excavating and a foreman for Cross |
15 | | Construction; he retired in 2014, but continued to work, and |
16 | | was most recently working for Lee Farms; he was a member of |
17 | | American Backhoe Excavating Union No. 841 and No. 150; and |
18 | | WHEREAS, Ed Day was recently elected alderman to Ward 3 in |
19 | | Gibson City; he had many projects he was hoping to accomplish, |
20 | | including a skate park for the youths of Gibson City; and
|
21 | | WHEREAS, Ed Day enjoyed music and playing his guitar; he |

1 | | was a member of the bands Quarry Renegade and Bastelle; his |
2 | | favorite types of music were rock 'n' roll and the blues; he |
3 | | also enjoyed science fiction and alien movies, reading |
4 | | nonfiction, biographies, westerns, and Mafia books; he was a |
5 | | dedicated Green Bay Packers fan and attended games regularly |
6 | | since the 1980s; he also enjoyed attending the Kentucky Derby; |
7 | | his other interests included the Chicago Cubs, NASCAR, |
8 | | photography, and Twitter; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Ed Day was preceded in death by his parents and |
10 | | his sister-in-law, Maleda Day; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Ed Day is survived by his wife, Lorri; his |
12 | | children, Paula (Burke) Stanion, April Day, Lisa (Clinton) |
13 | | Wolff, and Eric (Crystal) Day; his stepsons, John (Leslie) |
14 | | Denny, Dale (Billie Jo) Denny, Dallas Robinson, and Cody |
15 | | (Angel) Robinson; his grandchildren, Lyla Wolff, Chloe |
16 | | Buchanan, Claire Day, Clover Day, Ashley Denny, Dana Denny, |
17 | | Austin Denny, Dakota Denny, Harley Denny, Carissa Denny, |
18 | | Brittany Stanley, Alla Marie Robinson, Brody Robinson, and |
19 | | Brooklyn Robinson; his great-grandchildren, Alea Prince, Mac |
20 | | Prince, Rylee Colgrove, and Tatum Denny; his siblings, Dan |
21 | | (Sylvia) Day, Larry (Miriam) Day, Scott (Kate) Day, and Sandra |
22 | | (Dale) Alexander; and many nieces, nephews, and cherished |

1 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL |
2 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
3 | | Ed Isaac "Butch" Day, and extend our sincere condolences to his |
4 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
5 | | further

6 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
7 | | presented to the family of Ed Day as an expression of our |
8 | | deepest sympathy.
