SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Phyllis J. Bogdan of Joliet, who passed away on April 20, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Phyllis Bogdan was born in Joliet to Esther Fields and William T. Davies on May 16, 1928 and married Eugene I. Bogdan after high school; and

WHEREAS, Phyllis Bogdan supported her husband in The Farm Shop, the Holiday Inns, the Magic Palace, and the Joliet Area Historical Society; and

WHEREAS, Phyllis Bogdan loved music and learning the piano from her mother; she took the train back and forth from the age of 12 to the Conservatory of Music in Joliet and in Chicago where she learned the violin; she played violin in the Joliet Grade School Orchestra, the Joliet Township High School Orchestra, the Kiwanis Shows, and the New People; she sang at the Joliet Correctional Center; she was the soloist at the Christian Scientist Church and directed the youth choir at Richards Street United Methodist Church; and

WHEREAS, Phyllis Bogdan was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Eugene; her parents; her sister, Betty (Cameron) Dystrup; and her brother, Donald (Bette) Davies; and

WHEREAS, Phyllis Bogdan is survived by her children, Linda (Gary) Trager and David (Connie) Bogdan; her grandchildren, Jeremy Trager, Talia (Ryan) Hauser, Amy Trager, Jeff (Jenni) Bogdan, Greg (Rebecca) Bogdan, Sheri (Rev. Matt) Harris, Keegan and Kellen Bogdan, Matt and Kyle Casillas, and Allison (Marc) Silverman; her great-grandchildren, Cori and Justin Bogdan, Macey, Kylee, Elijah, Jaden, Liberty, Judah, Matty, Jacob, Noah, and Max Bogdan, Sam and Debbie Lawlor, Evan, Emmerson, Adysen and Gabriel Harris, Andrew Hauser, and Mason and Braxton Silverman; her sisters-in-law, Lonia Baranowski and Maggie Bogdan; her nieces and nephews, Johanna (LaVerne) Spencer, Lew Davies, Wade Clausing, Carolyn Dystrup, Barb Dystrup, Suzanne (Jim) Reinhart, Tom (Susie) Baranowski, Jeanne (Tim) Mahoney, Tom (Marsha) Bogdan, Libby (Bill) Lovis, Mary Bogdan-Hensold, and Michael and Kathy Bogdan; her cousin, Mary Lou Cookas; her dear friends, Chita Santorineos, Fran Macris, Ron Nelson, Joan and John Sullivan, Mary Jane Egbert, and Mary Ellen Hillman; and the "Lunch Bunch"; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Phyllis J. Bogdan, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Phyllis Bogdan as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
