2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Robert J. "Bobby" Swiney of Taylorville, |
4 | | who passed away on April 30, 2017; and |
5 | | WHEREAS, Robert Swiney was born in Taylorville to Donald H. |
6 | | "Pete" and Teresa (Stout/Timmerman) Swiney on June 12, 1969; he |
7 | | graduated from Taylorville High School in 1987; he played in |
8 | | the band while in high school and worked at the Lakeshore Golf |
9 | | Course; he graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a |
10 | | degree in political science and journalism; he earned his law |
11 | | degree from Oklahoma City University in 1995 and was admitted |
12 | | into the Illinois Bar in November of that same year; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Robert Swiney was a member of St. Mary Catholic |
14 | | Church, Knights of Columbus Council 2120 in Taylorville, the |
15 | | Edwin Corpin American Legion Post 905 in Kincaid, and the
|
16 | | Illinois Bar Association; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, Robert Swiney worked as a public defender in |
18 | | Shelby County and as a conflict public defender in Christian |
19 | | County; he also owned his own private
law practice and |
20 | | performed legal work for collection firms; and
|
21 | | WHEREAS, Robert Swiney was preceded in death by his father, |
|

1 | | Donald; his grandparents; and his uncle, Bill Timmerman; and

2 | | WHEREAS, Robert Swiney is survived by his mother, Teresa; |
3 | | his brother, Donald H. II (Dawn)
Swiney; his niece and nephews, |
4 | | Rachel Swiney, Stephen (Layney) Swiney, and Scott Swiney; his |
5 | | great-nieces and nephew, Adalyn Swiney, Emersyn Swiney, and |
6 | | Westyn Swiney; his aunts and uncles, Becky (Gene) Edwards, |
7 | | Bruce (Debbie) Timmerman, Mark (Mary) Timmerman, Betty |
8 | | Heninger, Leo T. (Kay) Swiney, Duane Swiney, Helen Bricker, |
9 | | Paul (Andi) Swiney, Janet Stephens, Kathy (Robert) Ricci, Leah |
10 | | (Bill) Kuntz, and Sharron Cottrell; and
his great-aunt, Rosalie |
11 | | Gorden; therefore, be it

12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL |
13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
14 | | Robert J. "Bobby" Swiney, and extend our sincere condolences to |
15 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
16 | | further |
17 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
18 | | presented to the family of Robert Swiney as an expression of |
19 | | our deepest sympathy.
