SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Donald D. "Scorchy" Smith of Colona, who 
4passed away on April 8, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Donald Smith was born in Canton to John and Lela 
6Franks Smith on December 6, 1941; he served in the United 
7States Army during the Korean War and he married Rhonda Downing 
8in Rock Island on December 28,  1984; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Donald Smith worked at Farmall for 25 years before 
10transferring to Navistar in Ohio, where he worked for 15 years 
11until he retired in 2000; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Donald Smith loved woodworking and spending time 
13with his children and grandchildren; and

  
 
14    WHEREAS, Donald Smith is survived by his wife, Rhonda; his 
15children, Dawn Smith, Jodie Cassidy, Magan (David) Jones, J.R. 
16Smith, and Rusty Smith; and his grandchildren, Michael, Cory, 
17Taylor, Bailey, Robert and Hannah; therefore, be it
  
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL 
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
20Donald D. "Scorchy" Smith, and extend our sincere condolences

1to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be 
2it further
 
3    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
4presented to the family of Donald Smith as an expression of our 
5deepest sympathy.
