SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Richard D. Steigmann of Champaign, who
4passed away on April 9, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Richard Steigmann was born in Chicago to Dr.
6Frederick Steigmann and Anna Ruth Dibblee Steigmann on January
714, 1942; he served in the United States Army from 1964 to
81967, with a tour in the Republic of Korea, assigned to a
9security company near the demilitarized zone; he married Karen
10Fleischer Steigmann at the Parish Church of St. Luke in
11Evanston on August 16, 1969; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Richard Steigmann was a small-business owner and
13was proud to serve on the Champaign County Board; he retired in
142015 from the Illinois Department of Employment Security; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Richard Steigmann was an advocate for returning
16veterans as a member of Employer Support of the Guard and
17Reserve; he was a fan of the Chicago White Sox and the Chicago
18Bears; he could be found watching the teams each season and
19would prepare for the NFL draft each year, with his eternal
20optimism that the Chicago Bears would finally draft the right
21player; and

1    WHEREAS, Richard Steigmann was preceded in death by his
2parents; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Richard Steigmann is survived by his wife of 47
4years, Karen; his children, David (Anthea Schwalbe) Steigmann,
5Catherine Steigmann (Jason) Lipinsky, and Jennifer "Jay"
6Steigmann; his grandchildren, Andrew Lipinsky, Peter Lipinsky,
7and William Thomas Steigmann; his beloved honorary children,
8Mandy Frank and Dr. Murty (Kalli Kirkendoll) Renduchintala; his
9sister, Judith Steigmann (Dr. Victor) Feldman; and his brother,
10Robert J. (Sherry) Steigmann; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Richard D. Steigmann, and extend our sincere condolences to his
14family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Richard Steigmann as an expression
18of our deepest sympathy.
