2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Robert Carl "Bob" Bruss of Huntley, who |
4 | | passed away on March 9, 2017; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Robert Bruss was born in Monroe, Wisconsin to Carl |
6 | | and Anna (Hoffman) Bruss on July 29, 1937; he served in the |
7 | | United States Air Force National Guard and married Sue Downing |
8 | | Bruss in Glen Ellyn on January 26, 1963; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Robert Bruss was a landscape architect and member |
10 | | of the Illinois Landscape Contractors Association; along with |
11 | | his siblings and his parents, he founded Bruss Nursery and |
12 | | Landscaping in Lombard in 1952; the business later moved to |
13 | | Wheaton, where it is now in its 65th year under the |
14 | | third-generation leadership of his son, Eric; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Robert Bruss enjoyed chocolate and raspberries |
16 | | and snatching a bite of food from the plate of an unsuspecting |
17 | | fellow diner; he was a Harris Fellow of Rotary International, a |
18 | | founder of Friends of Wildflower Lake in Sun City, an avid |
19 | | fisherman, a golfer, and a lover of old movies; he and his wife |
20 | | traveled to all 50 states and all seven continents; and
|
21 | | WHEREAS, Robert Bruss was preceded in death by his parents |

1 | | and his sister, Sue Greenen; and
|
2 | | WHEREAS, Robert Bruss is survived by his wife, Sue; his |
3 | | children, Cindy (Tim) Sullivan, David (Elizabeth), and Eric |
4 | | (Pam); his grandchildren, Patrick and Corrinne Sullivan, Kiley |
5 | | and Ellie Bruss, and Austin and Phillip Bruss; his "adopted" |
6 | | daughter, Delia (Philip) Silveira, and their daughter, |
7 | | Daniella; his wonderful caregivers, Maria Cabellos, and |
8 | | Roselle Taruc; his sisters, Marianne (Tom) Crane, and Nance |
9 | | Bruss; his brother, William (Marianne) Bruss; his |
10 | | sisters-in-law, Jean (Don) Oliver, and Ann (Hans) Brebeck; his |
11 | | brother-in-law, Bill (Kay) Downing; and many cousins, nieces, |
12 | | and nephews; therefore, be it

13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL |
14 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
15 | | Robert Carl "Bob" Bruss, and extend our sincere condolences to |
16 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
17 | | further

18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
19 | | presented to the family of Robert Bruss as an expression of our |
20 | | deepest sympathy.
