|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Robert Oliver "Bob" Case, who passed away |
4 | | on February 11, 2017 at the age of 95; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Robert Case was born in Detroit, Michigan to |
6 | | Arthur B. and Elsie E. Watts Case; he attended St. Andrew's |
7 | | School in Barrington, Rhode Island, where he won the King |
8 | | Medal; he was captain of his high school football, basketball, |
9 | | and baseball teams; he continued to play sports in college, |
10 | | having declined an invitation to train with the Boston Red Sox; |
11 | | he was awarded an undergraduate scholarship to Brown University |
12 | | and earned a law degree at Columbia Law School; he served in |
13 | | the United States Army Signal Corps during World War II in |
14 | | General Eisenhower's SHAEF command headquarters in Europe; he |
15 | | married Marian in 1953 and they settled in Deerfield; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, Robert Case worked as an attorney for the United |
17 | | States Department of the Navy in Washington, D.C.; he rose to |
18 | | the rank of Captain as a JAG officer for the U.S. Air Force |
19 | | Reserve in Chicago; for the majority of his career he worked in |
20 | | private practice in Chicago; he started his own law firm which |
21 | | later became Walsh, Case, Coale, Brown & Burke; he completed |
22 | | his legal career, which spanned 55 years, with Holland and |
23 | | Knight; and

1 | | WHEREAS, Robert Case was an avid reader of history and |
2 | | biographies; he loved to debate world affairs and play golf; he |
3 | | was a long time member of the Exmoor Country Club and served on |
4 | | its board of directors; he and his family enjoyed wonderful |
5 | | times at their vacation home in Green Lake, Wisconsin and many |
6 | | winters on Jupiter Island, Florida; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, Robert Case was passionate about aviation; he |
8 | | obtained his pilot's license and was active in the |
9 | | Lawyer-Pilots Bar Association; he periodically flew free |
10 | | medical flights for the Angel Flight network; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Robert Case was the beloved husband of the late |
12 | | Marian Burke Case; the devoted father of Robert A. |
13 | | (Mary-Suzanne) Case, Leila A. Case (Charles Meyer), John G. |
14 | | (Karen) Case, Mary Deirdre (Gregory) Case Patchen, Pamela J. |
15 | | (Christoph) Case Stanger, Maureen M. Case, and the late |
16 | | Jennifer S. Case; the loving grandfather of Carl Case, Sarah |
17 | | Case, Colleen Case, Scott Case, Michael Stanger, Aaron Grace, |
18 | | Alexa Stanger, Nicholas Stanger, and Thomas Stanger; the fond |
19 | | step-grandfather of Philip Meyer, Katherine (Kevin) Meyer |
20 | | Bruffy, and Evan Meyer; and the step-great-grandfather of |
21 | | Elliot and Whitney Bruffy; therefore, be it

22 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL |

1 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
2 | | Robert Oliver "Bob" Case, and extend our sincere condolences to |
3 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
4 | | further

5 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
6 | | presented to the family of Robert Case as an expression of our |
7 | | deepest sympathy.
