SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John F. "Koz" Kozonasky, who passed away
4on January 28, 2017 at the age of 66; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Kozonasky was born in Trenton, New Jersey to
6John M. and Hazel Ruth (Coonrod) Kozonasky on December 27,
71950; he was active with the Boy Scouts of America, earning the
8rank of Eagle Scout; he graduated from Alton High School in
91969 and married Claudia McGinnis in Alton on September 7,
101984; and
 
11    WHEREAS, John Kozonasky served in the United States Army as
12part of the presidential helicopter fleet; he later worked out
13of Belgium, handling personnel duties at SHAPE (Supreme
14Headquarters Allied Powers Europe); he worked for a short time
15at McDonnell Douglas before starting EMT training in 1978; he
16joined MedCo Ambulance Service, where he worked for two years
17before joining Campbell's Ambulance Service, the predecessor
18company of LifeStar Ambulance Service, from where he retired on
19September 1, 2011 after 33 years of service as a paramedic; he
20then worked at The Alton Telegraph; and
 
21    WHEREAS, John Kozonasky was a member of the Cherry Street
22Baptist Church; he enjoyed camping and spending time with his

1grandkids; he was always willing to help family and friends,
2and even a stranger whenever needed; and
 
3    WHEREAS, John Kozonasky was preceded in death by his
4parents and his grandparents; many aunts and uncles; his
5mother-in-law, and a great-nephew, Samuel Biggs; and
 
6    WHEREAS, John Kozonasky is survived by his wife; his
7children, Brian (Dusty) Stahlschmidt, Chad (Brittney)
8Stahlschmidt, John Michael Kozonasky, and Tara (Don) Cherry;
9his grandchildren, Tyler, Trey, Hope, and Sierra Stahlschmidt,
10and Ashley, Madison, and Emilee Cherry; three sisters, Sue
11(Weston) Cole, and Marcia and Mary Kozonasky; his
12sister-in-law, Jenny (Jason) Hausman; his brother-in-law,
13Michael (Debbie) McGinnis; and many aunts, cousins, nieces,
14nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Sassy;
15therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18John F. "Koz" Kozonasky, and extend our sincere condolences to
19his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
20further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22presented to the family of John Kozonasky as an expression of
