|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of John F. "Koz" Kozonasky, who passed away |
4 | | on January 28, 2017 at the age of 66; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, John Kozonasky was born in Trenton, New Jersey to |
6 | | John M. and Hazel Ruth (Coonrod) Kozonasky on December 27, |
7 | | 1950; he was active with the Boy Scouts of America, earning the |
8 | | rank of Eagle Scout; he graduated from Alton High School in |
9 | | 1969 and married Claudia McGinnis in Alton on September 7, |
10 | | 1984; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, John Kozonasky served in the United States Army as |
12 | | part of the presidential helicopter fleet; he later worked out |
13 | | of Belgium, handling personnel duties at SHAPE (Supreme |
14 | | Headquarters Allied Powers Europe); he worked for a short time |
15 | | at McDonnell Douglas before starting EMT training in 1978; he |
16 | | joined MedCo Ambulance Service, where he worked for two years |
17 | | before joining Campbell's Ambulance Service, the predecessor |
18 | | company of LifeStar Ambulance Service, from where he retired on |
19 | | September 1, 2011 after 33 years of service as a paramedic; he |
20 | | then worked at The Alton Telegraph; and
|
21 | | WHEREAS, John Kozonasky was a member of the Cherry Street |
22 | | Baptist Church; he enjoyed camping and spending time with his |

1 | | grandkids; he was always willing to help family and friends, |
2 | | and even a stranger whenever needed; and
|
3 | | WHEREAS, John Kozonasky was preceded in death by his |
4 | | parents and his grandparents; many aunts and uncles; his |
5 | | mother-in-law, and a great-nephew, Samuel Biggs; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, John Kozonasky is survived by his wife; his |
7 | | children, Brian (Dusty) Stahlschmidt, Chad (Brittney) |
8 | | Stahlschmidt, John Michael Kozonasky, and Tara (Don) Cherry; |
9 | | his grandchildren, Tyler, Trey, Hope, and Sierra Stahlschmidt, |
10 | | and Ashley, Madison, and Emilee Cherry; three sisters, Sue |
11 | | (Weston) Cole, and Marcia and Mary Kozonasky; his |
12 | | sister-in-law, Jenny (Jason) Hausman; his brother-in-law, |
13 | | Michael (Debbie) McGinnis; and many aunts, cousins, nieces, |
14 | | nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Sassy; |
15 | | therefore, be it

16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL |
17 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
18 | | John F. "Koz" Kozonasky, and extend our sincere condolences to |
19 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
20 | | further
