2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Edward Paul Moricoli, who passed away on |
4 | | December 19, 2016; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Edward Moricoli was born in Woodstock to James and |
6 | | Arlene (Wendt) Moricoli on September 7, 1944; he graduated from |
7 | | Woodstock High School in 1962, where he played football, |
8 | | basketball, and baseball; he studied at Elgin Community College |
9 | | and married Mary Shales in Woodstock on October 15, 1989; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Edward Moricoli began his career with Delta |
11 | | Airlines; he then worked for Prudential Insurance Company as a |
12 | | sales manager and agent for 30 years; he retired from |
13 | | Prudential in 1999 and began working as a Court Security |
14 | | Officer for the McHenry County Sheriff's Department, where he |
15 | | worked for 17 years; and |
16 | | WHEREAS, Edward Moricoli became an Illinois High School |
17 | | Association (IHSA) football and basketball official in 1969, |
18 | | and remained an active member for 34 years and a member for 44 |
19 | | years; he was chosen to officiate in the 1986 Class 3A, the |
20 | | 1987 Class 4A, and the 1990 Class 2A IHSA State Football |
21 | | Championship games in Bloomington-Normal; and |

1 | | WHEREAS, Edward Moricoli was named Northern Officials |
2 | | Association Football Official of the Year in 1988, and received |
3 | | the George Young Memorial Award for Outstanding Football |
4 | | Official in 1995; he received the IHSA Lifetime Member Award in |
5 | | 2009; and |
6 | | WHEREAS, Edward Moricoli served on the Woodstock District |
7 | | 200 Board of Education as Secretary of the Board for five years |
8 | | in the early 1980s; he was a member of the Elks Club Lodge |
9 | | #1043 in Woodstock and served as President of the EAA Chapter |
10 | | 932 at Galt Airport in Wonder Lake; he loved flying and had |
11 | | recently passed his written test; he had six perfect landings; |
12 | | he loved spending time with friends at Galt Airport talking |
13 | | about politics, working on aircrafts, and flying; he had booked |
14 | | 500 hours working on planes; and |
15 | | WHEREAS, Edward Moricoli was a Corvette enthusiast and had |
16 | | a passion for history; and

17 | | WHEREAS, Edward Moricoli was preceded in death by his wife, |
18 | | Mary; his father, Jim; his mother, Arlene; his brother-in-law, |
19 | | John Fish; and his mother-in-law, Hulda Shales; and
|
20 | | WHEREAS, Edward Moricoli is survived by his daughters, |
21 | | Katherine (Jeff) Karlin, and Kristine (Brad) Woodson; his |
22 | | sister, Barbara Fish; his brothers, James (Mary) and Daniel |

1 | | Moricoli; his brothers-in-law, James (Shirley) and Tom Shales; |
2 | | his grandchildren, MacKenzie, Madison, Kara, Kiki, Sam, Ben, |
3 | | and Eli; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

4 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL |
5 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
6 | | Edward Paul Moricoli, and extend our sincere condolences to his |
7 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
8 | | further

9 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
10 | | presented to the family of Edward Moricoli as an expression of |
11 | | our deepest sympathy.
