SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Eugene R. Hill of Rock Island, who passed
4away on January 7, 2017 at the age of 85; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Eugene Hill was born in Moline to Roy and Helen
6(Cook) Hill on April 4, 1931; he married Marilyn Driscoll in
7Gulfport, Mississippi on April 4, 1931; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Eugene Hill was a Private in the United States Air
9Force during the Korean Conflict where he served as a radio
10operator; he retired in 1993 as an electric systems supervisor
11at MidAmerican Energy, after 40 years of service; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Eugene Hill worked as a marshal at Highland
13Springs Golf Course after his retirement; he was a member of
14the Independent Order of Vikings Thor Lodge No. 9 in Moline; he
15was a World War II history buff and an avid birdwatcher with
16several bird feeders; he was proud of his achievements as a
17high school baseball player; he enjoyed golfing, reading,
18woodworking, spending time with his daughter and
19granddaughter, and his many lifelong friends from Moline High
20School; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Eugene Hill was preceded in death by his parents;

1his wife, Marilyn; his son, Robin, and his sister, Shirley
2White; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Eugene Hill is survived by his daughter, Jamie
4Hill and her husband Lee Blackmon; his granddaughter, Samantha
5Tonn; his step-granddaughter, Lizzy (Sam) Luoma, and
6step-great-grandson Charlie; his sister, Marilyn Knittle; his
7sister-in-law, Barbara (Joe) Vinzant; and many nieces and
8nephews; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
11family and friends, mourn the passing of Eugene R. Hill, and
12extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all
13who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Eugene Hill as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
