HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to commend their colleague Sheri Jesiel on the occasion of her retirement as State Representative of the 61st District; and

WHEREAS, Rep. Jesiel is a lifelong resident of the Zion-Winthrop Harbor area; she attended Zion-Benton Township High School and stayed in the area to raise her three children; and

WHEREAS, Rep. Jesiel is a proud graduate of Carthage College, where she earned two Bachelor of Arts degrees in business administration and accounting; and

WHEREAS, Rep. Jesiel is a former program director and staff member of Camp Zion and attended the Zion-Benton Leadership Academy in the fall of 2013; and

WHEREAS, Rep. Jesiel was appointed State Representative in July of 2014 to fill the unexpired term of Assistant Republican Leader JoAnn Osmond; and

WHEREAS, Rep. Jesiel went on to be elected State Representative of the 61st District in her own right in November of 2014 and was subsequently re-elected in November of 2016; and

WHEREAS, Rep. Jesiel is employed as a business manager and accountant in the private sector, making her one of the only certified public accountants currently serving in the Illinois General Assembly; and

WHEREAS, During the current 100th General Assembly, Rep. Jesiel has served with distinction as a member of the House Committees on Human Services, Personnel & Pensions, Mass Transit, Business Growth & Incentives, Appropriations-Human Services, and Appropriations-Elementary & Secondary Education, to which she was appointed Republican Spokesperson in August of 2018; and

WHEREAS, Rep. Jesiel has been a recognized champion for Lake County families and taxpayers throughout her career in the General Assembly; she was honored as Legislator of the Year by numerous organizations and most recently was named a "Champion of Free Enterprise" by the Illinois Chamber of Commerce; and

WHEREAS, Rep. Jesiel is an active member of Christ Community Church in Zion and enjoys being "Nana" to her six grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we commend Rep. Sheri Jesiel on her distinguished service as State Representative of the 61st District, and we wish her all the best in her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Rep. Sheri Jesiel as a symbol of our esteem and respect for our colleague and friend.
