HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate the Good
Shepherd 
4Hospital in Shelbyville on 100 years of service to Shelby 
5County and the surrounding
area; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The hospital was established in Shelbyville in 
71916 after a campaign by Senator
George D. Chaffee to bring 
8health care services to the area; after fundraising by 
9residents and
organizations, work on the hospital building 
10began in 1917, and the Shelby Memorial Hospital was dedicated 
11on
July 4, 1918; and
  
 
  
12    WHEREAS, Shelby Memorial Hospital joined the Hospital 
13Sisters Health System (HSHS) and was renamed Good Shepherd 
14Hospital in
January of 2017, which allowed the hospital to 
15combine small-town, friendly care with the
expansive resources 
16and capabilities of a larger hospital system; and
  
 
  
17    WHEREAS, As Shelby County's only hospital, the 30-bed HSHS 
18Good Shepherd Hospital provides vital healthcare services 
19including emergency care, imaging services, rehabilitative

20therapy, and a wide variety of outpatient services to the 
21residents of Shelbyville, Shelby County,
and beyond; 
22therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
2HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
3congratulate HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital in Shelbyville on
100 
4years of quality care to the residents of Shelby County, and we 
5wish them many more
successful years; and be it further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to the President and CEO of
 HSHS Good Shepherd 
8Hospital, Aaron Puchbauer, as a symbol of our respect and 
9esteem.
