2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate John F. McDonough on being |
4 | | the inspiration for and the first recipient of the John F. |
5 | | McDonough Humanitarian Award, created by the Gala Committee of |
6 | | St. Juliana Parish; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, St. Juliana Parish includes 3,000 parishioners, a |
8 | | vibrant CCD program, an active alumni organization, and a |
9 | | school that recently earned the National Blue Ribbon for |
10 | | Excellence in Education; the parish created an award to honor |
11 | | those who have demonstrated significant leadership, moral |
12 | | integrity, spiritual commitment to Catholic values, and |
13 | | extraordinary leadership through charitable giving; and

14 | | WHEREAS, John McDonough graduated from St. Juliana School |
15 | | in 1967; after spending 24 years in many leadership positions |
16 | | with the Chicago Cubs, he joined the Chicago Blackhawks as |
17 | | President in 2007; he was named President and CEO in 2011; |
18 | | under his guidance, the Blackhawks revitalized the team's |
19 | | profile and re-energized its fan base; since he joined the |
20 | | organization, the team won Stanley Cup titles in 2010, 2013, |
21 | | and 2015; he always includes the Edison Park Community in his |
22 | | successes, as he has noted the neighborhood has made him the |
23 | | person he is today; and
