HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to recognize milestone events in the lives of Illinois citizens; and

WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Mr. Brad Halverson is retiring from Caterpillar after 30 years; and

WHEREAS, Brad Halverson started as a staff accountant in 1988; he then moved overseas and became the controller in Europe, where he was responsible for Caterpillar's financial reporting in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East; and

WHEREAS, Upon returning to Central Illinois in 1996, Brad Halverson became the General Accounting and Finance Systems Manager; in 2010, he became the Vice President of the Finance Services Division, and for the past five years, he has been the Group President and CFO of Corporate Services and Financial Products at Caterpillar; and

WHEREAS, Brad Halverson graduated with an associate's degree in accounting from Illinois Central College in 1980; in 1982, he graduated from the University of Illinois with a bachelor's degree in accounting; he furthered his education and earned an Executive M.B.A. from the University of Illinois in 1996 and completed Caterpillar's Advanced Management Program in 1996 and 2001; and

WHEREAS, Brad Halverson has shown that involvement in the Peoria area is important to him; he is chairman of the steering committee for the IHSA Boys Basketball State Finals, past chairman of the board and current board member for Easter Seals of Central Illinois and past member of the OSF Saint Francis Medical Center Community Advisory Board; he has further served his community by offering his leadership and expertise as treasurer for the Easter Seals Foundation Board of Trustees; beyond the local community, he is also a member of the Sysco Board of Directors, a board member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants; he was previously a member of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign College of Business Dean's Council; and

WHEREAS, Brad Halverson grew up in Delavan and learned his work ethic from his parents; he was first introduced to Caterpillar through his father, who worked third shift for Caterpillar in East Peoria; his father worked two jobs, and his mother took care of Brad and his five siblings; and

WHEREAS, Brad Halverson married his high school sweetheart, Mindy, in 1980; they have three children, Tyler (Que) Halverson, Lauren (Michael) Hasten, and Megan (Rob) Arseniadis; he also has four grandchildren, Allie Halverson, Mason Halverson, Brynley Halverson, and Connor Arseniadis; and

WHEREAS, Brad Halverson enjoys spending time with his family and friends, as well as golfing and playing basketball; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize Brad Halverson on his outstanding career with Caterpillar and his energetic volunteer service to his community; we wish him every success in his retirement; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Brad Halverson as an expression of our esteem and respect.
