2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Jonathan Lavin on the | ||||||
4 | occasion of his retirement as the President and CEO of | ||||||
5 | AgeOptions after 40 years of service; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Jonathan Lavin graduated from Niles Township West | ||||||
7 | High School and then attended Bowling Green State University | ||||||
8 | for two years; he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Government | ||||||
9 | from American University in 1970; he then earned his Master of | ||||||
10 | Public Administration from American University in 1972; he has | ||||||
11 | served as the Chief Executive Officer of AgeOptions, formerly | ||||||
12 | the Suburban Area Agency on Aging, a non-profit corporation | ||||||
13 | that promotes services for older people, protects their rights, | ||||||
14 | and offers them opportunities, since 1978; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, As President and CEO, Jonathan Lavin is | ||||||
16 | responsible for an internal budget of $3.7 million, $14.5 | ||||||
17 | million in grants, contracts with 45 community-based service | ||||||
18 | agencies, and a staff of 45; he advocates for greater support | ||||||
19 | for senior programs at the local, State and federal level; he | ||||||
20 | prepares advocacy alerts, develops and maintains legislative | ||||||
21 | contacts in the federal and state legislatures, and networks | ||||||
22 | with a number of organizations on legislative matters; and

1 | WHEREAS, Jonathan Lavin provides leadership to senior | ||||||
2 | service programs throughout suburban Cook County, including | ||||||
3 | public information activities and the presentation of oral and | ||||||
4 | written testimony to public officials; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Jonathan Lavin has served with many associations, | ||||||
6 | including as president of the Illinois Association of Area | ||||||
7 | Agencies on Aging, past region five elected director to the | ||||||
8 | National Association of Area Agencies on Aging, past member of | ||||||
9 | the board of directors of the American Society on Aging, past | ||||||
10 | member of the board of directors for the National Council on | ||||||
11 | Aging, former president of the Illinois Coalition on Aging, and | ||||||
12 | as a congressional appointed delegate at the White House | ||||||
13 | Conference on Aging in 1995 and 2005; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Jonathan Lavin is married with two children; he | ||||||
15 | has worked in the field of aging for 45 years; therefore, be it
| ||||||
16 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
17 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
18 | congratulate Jonathan Lavin on the occasion of his retirement | ||||||
19 | as the President and CEO of AgeOptions, and we commend his | ||||||
20 | dedication to the field of aging and the State of Illinois; and | ||||||
21 | be it further
