HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to recognize Komensky Elementary School 
4on their participation in  the 10th Annual Our American Voice 
5Program; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Our American Voice begins with the fundamentals of 
7democracy - how government works - and lessons of change 
8distilled from the American Revolution to the civil rights 
9movement and beyond; it takes a critical additional step by 
10teaching students how to apply these lessons to their local 
11communities, form vigorous partnerships with other 
12organizations, and create living projects and campaigns that 
13generate real results; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Komensky Elementary School's project consisted of 
15making the school environment more current and relevant to 
16students; projects include working with a muralist to create 
17display art for the hallways and working with a photographer to 
18take photos of students in a classroom setting; and
  
 


  
19    WHEREAS, Participating in Our American Voice and visiting 
20the Capitol is a memorable learning experience that teaches 
21students the fundamentals of American democracy and helps them 
22work to create positive change in their community; therefore,

2    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
3HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
4recognize Komensky Elementary School on their participation in  
5the 10th Annual Our American Voice Program; and be it further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to Komensky Elementary School as a symbol of our 
8respect and esteem.
