HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of John 
4Rogers, who passed away on May 1, 2018; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, John Rogers was born in Monmouth on July 29, 1941; 
6he graduated from Alexis High School in 1959; he attended Notre 
7Dame University; in 1964, he earned his bachelor of science 
8degree from Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, John Rogers earned his master's degree from 
10Western Illinois University and completed post-graduate work 
11at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville; following the 
12completion of his education, he decided to build his life in 
13the Riverbend region; and
  
 

  
14    WHEREAS, John Rogers dedicated his career to serving the 
15youth of Alton as a school teacher, coach, and assistant 
16principal at Marquette Catholic High School; he dedicated many 
17years to Marquette, starting in 1964 until his retirement in 
182003; he was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in 
19Godfrey; therefore, be it
  
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
21HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we we

1recognize John Rogers for his dedicated service to Marquette 
2Catholic High School and the youth of Alton; we also mourn the 
3passing of John Rogers, and we extend our sincere condolences 
4to his wife, Katherine, his son, John, his family, his friends, 
5and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to the family of John Rogers as an expression of our 
8deepest sympathy.
